Alizonne FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions about Alizonne Therapy®
Why is it not available in more places?
This is a highly specialised weight loss programme. Only physicians personally trained by Dr Claudia van der Lugt who devised the diet are able to offer this service to ensure that patients are treated correctly and consistently. How much does it cost?
Initial consultation is with Dr Connolly and costs £85.Initially Nutrition and Treatments cost about £210 per week but this reduces significantly as you approach your target weight. It is expensive. How can I afford it?
Remember that the nutrition costs about £90 per week and at present the treatments are reduced for those starting over the summer time. When you are very over weight you will need to eat a significant amount to maintain your body’s needs. Total up what you spend on food and drink and you will see that the costs are very competitive. Do I need to have the treatments as well?
Yes! The weight loss programme has been carefully researched and designed to lose weight rapidly and help tighten skin. Missing treatments or not following the doctor’s instructions will significantly reduce or even prevent any benefit. How much weight will I lose?
Average weight loss is about 3 to 4 stones over a 3 month period. Many patients lose significantly more. What about lose skin afterwards?
The endermologie used in Alizonne therapy stimulates collagen production and tightens skin as you lose weight. Weight loss of more than 6 stones will inevitable result in some loose skin. This can be addressed by surgery after your weight is stable. I have diabetes – Can I still have Alizonne Therapy®?
This is not a problem in Alizonne therapy. Dr Connolly will reduce your medication or insulin to reflect the low calorie content of the diet. Most patients with type 2 diabetes (tablet controlled) will find their sugar returns to normal by the end of the Alizonne Therapy®. Does it help other medical problems?
Reducing obesity will help many medical conditions including blood pressure, high cholesterol and arthritis. Will I feel unwell on Alizonne Therapy®?
Most people feel slightly unwell in the first week as the body adjusts to the strict regime. Occasionally some people will feel dizzy and suffer from some transient nausea. This will settle in week 2. Will I feel hungry?
From week 2 onwards patients do not feel hungry. This is because the nutrition provides a steady blood sugar level and avoids the ups and downs and hunger pangs of all other diets. In spite of the low calorie intake patients feel alert, have good concentration and do not feel tired or sluggish in the afternoon. Is it all shakes and drinks like “lighter life”?
In Alizonne Therapy® there are soups, omelettes, pizza, pasta, pancakes, desserts, cold drinks, hot chocolate and cappuccino to name but a few. You also have vegetables and salad at lunch and dinner.
Why do I have my metabolic rate measured?
Your metabolic rate is measured to help the doctor gauge how quickly you will lose your weight.
Why is water so important?
Water is essential to flush toxins from the body through the kidneys during the diet. It is also essential to ensure the fat gets back to the liver through the lymphatics. Dr Connolly will explain this at your consultation.
Do I need to go through the stabilisation phases?
If you miss out these phases weight gain will occur and undo a lot of what you have gained. How do I stop myself gaining weight after the diet?
At the end of the diet Dr Connolly will measure your metabolic rate and give you a customised eating plan based on that and your height and weight. It will tell you how many calories you should eat per day and also how many grams of Fat, Protein and Carbohydrates should be consumed each day to make up this calorie allowance. What happens if I gain weight afterwards or need some more help?
We consider success as someone who reaches their target and maintains that for 2 years. The door is always open and Dr Connolly and the team are just a phone call away!
